硝酰基(nitroxyl, hno)作为活性氮簇分子的一员,能够脱去电子或者还原为一种众所周知的生物信号分子一氧化氮(no), 但到目前为止仍然缺少有效的检测手段来阐释其在活体生物中的存在和运载机理。

no作为衍生内皮舒张因子影响心脏调节功能已广为报导,而由德州大学医学院murad、纽约州立大学furchgott和加州大学洛杉矶分校ignarro主导发现no在心血管系统中的重要作用获得1998年度诺贝尔生理及医学奖。

近年来,其衍生物hno对心脏功能的影响才被发现。
