1. 研究目的与意义（文献综述）

sister carrie and jennie gerhardt which are the works of theodore dreiser superficially tell us the two girls from countryside have a similar dreams, the pursuit of a better life in the big city of america. however, from deeper aspects it told us that human’s animality and humanity in real world. everyone chooses a road to be one’s a circle of life . and in the circle of life it creates them good or evil nature.after studying the title i can not only deeply analyze the values of this two but clearly recognize how tempts that include money, luxurious,even better life impact our life. the more ethical rule we find out the more choice we have and the less opportunity to lose our own.

it is our duty to plant ourselves like a tree and have no chance to shake with the wind. establish the correct values then we can get a higher realm of life. with the blooming development of social economic man give more attention on material life but ignore morality characteristic. for graduating students who are leaving cozy school life for working in society it is a very important compulsory course for how to survive with principles in this complex daily life. it is also a significant course for preparing ahead to plan professional ethics and set up higher moral norm of job ethic in the future..

asking a question is more important than solve it. finding a new issue or having a new idea or observing society from a fresh perspective, will help us to get more information about life. the topic that analysis of sister carrie and jennie gerhardt is more relative with our daily life. through the research of this paper, i can further adjust the structure of professional knowledge. according to the task, requirements, and deadlines, i can determine the depth and breadth of learning in the relevant disciplines. to lay a good foundation for professional practice and personal development after graduation.

A book is a mirror of one’s life. These two works are close to people’s life, honest and bold, but also full of passion for life. These two works are also embody the comparison of human nature and animals between the two rural girls in the dark society of American. They have totally different value, which directly lead to their different fate under the temptation of money and luxury. Why are they so different? What kind of attitude and values of life should we insist on in such big alluring city. The writer depicted different trauma in his writing, which there are common social background and similar temptation. It not only explains how writers create trauma in this two novels, but also make us deep think why this two main characters have totally different endings.

The measures of writing the paper are through browsing the Chinese and English literature and capturing useful information, classifying and rearranging the capture of contents. Then seeking and finding out issues. Finally comparing difference between this two target book and getting my own standpoints.
