10.8 ACCEPTANCE/PERFORMANCE TESTS
Prior to Fabrication Site and Erection Site testing, all systems must be complete and functional. All significant component/systems shall be commissioned at both the Fabrication Site and the Erection Site by the applicable component manufacturers representative (including the manlift, brakes, cable reels, etc.) The Contractor shall prepare formal test procedures for all required tests and submit them to Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Representative for review, ninety (90) days prior to scheduled tests. These test procedures will prove the compliance of this Crane to the Specifications. The Contractor shall successfully complete Fabrication Site performance tests and provide the test reports to Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Representative for review prior to shipment of the Crane
10.8.1 Safety Test
The Contractor shall operate the Crane(s) without load in each mode at full rated speeds to establish integrity of all limit switches, including over travel switches, back up limit switches, interlocks lights, and controls to the satisfaction of Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Representative. These tests shall be completed at the Fabrication Site as part of the Acceptance/Performance Tests and shall be repeated at the Erection Site to ensure proper operation of the Crane after shipping.
10.8.2 Speed and Power Test
The Contractor shall complete the following operations and record the measurements of voltage, amperage of the drive motors, and the operational speeds of the functions during these operations.
- With an empty telescoping bucket, run all motions at full speeds to the limits of their travel. Slowdown and end limit switches are to be checked by running each motion at full speed into its extremes of travel, depending solely on the limit switches to slow and stop that particular motion. Operation of hoists and trolley over travel switches shall be verified at full speed.
2. In accordance with US OSHA requirements, perform certification load tests as required for rated capacity of crane. Perform any other proof or overload tests as required by applicable local codes and regulations for rated capacity.
3. With loaded bucket, repeat operation (2) above at full speed and measure the acceleration forces for the most severe conditions.
10.8.3 Cycle Time Test
The Crane shall hoists a certified weight simulating as closely as possible the theoretical duty cycle as defined in SECTION 5. Duration of this test shall be no less than one (1) hour. Should down time occur during this test, the test shall be repeated until the one (1) hour duration is accomplished.
10.8.4 Endurance
Test The crane shall be operated through a cyclic unloading operation, which simulates an actual operation. The crane shall be demonstrated to be able to hoists, lower, hold in any position, and transport the bucket and test material at rated speed and acceleration. With test load material grab, hoists, travel, position over hopper, lower, dump, hoists, travel back to barge, lower, and repeat cycle. At the Fabrication Site, this cycle is to be repeated continuously for twenty (20) hours. The last eight (8) hours are to be trouble free. As a barge and material will not be available at the Fabrication Site, the Contractor shall be required to implement the necessary measures to simulate operations. The Contractor shall correct all malfunctions that develop and these corrections shall be made to the satisfaction of Progress Energy Services Company, LLC and without affecting the guarantee.
The Manufacturer shall provide sufficient power (voltage, ampacity, frequency, kVA, kW, etc) at the Fabrication Site as required by the electrical systems on the Crane to operate without any restriction and at the same voltage and frequency as at the Erection Site.
Upon delivery of the Crane at the Erection Site and successful completion of the necessary overload test and repeated safety test, an additional twelve (12) hour trouble-free endurance test as described above shall be conducted. The last eight (8) hours are to be trouble free. Progress Energy Services Company, LLC will provide a barge and test material; however, Contractor shall be responsible for all other incidentals and the carrying out of test.
The testing and adjustments specified shall be made by and at the expense of the Contractor.
During the full load and overload testing, measurements are to be taken of speed, voltage and amperage at the drive motors as follows: (A report of these readings shall be furnished to Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Repold-resentative.)
- Hold-Close Hoists Motor
- Raise bucket only.
2. Lower bucket only.
3. Raise at 100% load.
4. Lower at 100% load.
5. Raise at overload.
6. Lower at overload.
b. Trolley Motor(s)
7.Travel inboard-bucket only.
8. Travel outboard-bucket only.
9. Travel inboard at 100% load.
10. Travel outboard at 100% load.
11. Travel inboard at overload.
12. Travel outboard at overload.
c. Gantry Motors
- Travel right-bucket only.
14. Travel left-bucket only.
15. Travel right with 100% load.
16. Travel left with 100% load.
17. Travel right with overload.
18. Travel left with overload.
d. Wind velocity and direction of the wind, as well as the mean temperature, shall be taken and recorded at the time of test.
e. In addition, strip charts of master switch reference, motor speed (if equipped with tachometer), current, voltage, and frequency shall be made with a chart recorder supplied by the Contractor. The readings and chart recordings shall be submitted to Progress Energy Services Comp
