This paper takes Bob Dylan's early works AHard Rain's A Gonna Fall, Tangled Up in Blue and John Wesley Harding etc. asthe research objects, to analyze the melancholy imagery in Bob Dylan's earlypoems from the perspective of close reading and image theory research. Thispaper is devoted to exploring the imagery in his poems, and combining BobDylan's personal experience, in order to further explore the social valuecontained in his poems.
