Abstract
The auto-body has become one of the largest system that influence of various properties such as power, fuel economy, ride comfort and so on while vehicle has developed nowadays. It will have a great impact on consumers’ buying desire especially for the body appearance. People have higher demand of safety, comfort, reliability and the society has incresing requirements for energy saving, low carbon style, environmental protection at the same time. Therefore, research on the compact car body layout has realistic meaning.
The content of this design is the auto-body layout and design of the compact car, according to the parameters of existing Sagitar models, internal layout of the body, to meet the basic principle of ergonomics, and in strictly accordance with the positioning method given in SAE. In the layout process, we try to select the larger size cab.
This paper introduces the ergonomics and automobile layout tools: human template, eyellipse, head envelop surface. Theselection of hard point size is the difficulty of this design, because many parameters cannot be obtained, so we choose some parameters through the real vehicle measurement, finally completed the CATIA seat, Eyellipse, head profile enveloping surface modeling and rendering Auto-CAD simplified version of body layout.

1. Intorduction
1.1 Research purpose and meaning
China’s automobile industry started from the scratch. At the beginning, we were dependent on pre-designed drawings, technical documents and manufacturing processes, then we turned to reverse engineering and added some creative ideas, finally we can embrace the golden age of indigenous research and development. Nevertheless automobile body technology is still a young discipline. Traditional body design depends much on the designer’s experience, and they have to change the parameter date over and over again ever since they found something wrong. That is the reason why it is laborious and inefficient. It takes two or three years normally. Development and product preparation cycle is long too. On the other hand, modern body design technology overcomes these difficulties by relying on computer technology which can greatly shorten the development cycle. These auxiliary tools conclude CAD\CAE\CAM technology, digital body design and VR technology (under research). These technologies provide us conditions to develop multiple products at the same time and sharing information together. They improve the flexibility and convenience of body design.
Consumer’s choice and attractions make the larger proportion in the design of a vehicle body. Because of it, automobile companies around the world increase the tech investment on body development and each brand has its own special features and blends enterprise culture in it. In USA and Europe people-oriented” design concept has been deeply remembered by their minds therefore, we should ensure the ride comfort, body sealing, heat insulation, sound insulation, safety, control convenience, vision, easiness on up and down and so on. For these reasons, ergonomics becomes the core of the auto-body layout. Ergonomics is a science about the interaction between human, machine and environment. Its purpose is to make car’s all kinds of performance suit people’s requirement physiology and mentally better in both subjective and objective.
