The Crucible is a 1953 play by American playwright Arther Miller. It is broaldly studied both home and abroad and is widely considered to be one of the most realist drama of all times. As ArtherMiller himself puts it:' The Crucible is taken from history. No character is in the play who did not take a similar role in Salem, 1692.' The word 'crucible' is defined as a severe test or trial. The characters whose moral standards prevail in the face of death, such as John Procter and Rebecca Nurse, symbolically refuse to sacrifice their principles or to falsely confess. Therefore, the dissertation aims to get a deeper view into the specific period of history in which the book is set in and analyze the consequential characters, namely 'The Others',in the book.

the paper is going to analyze some consequential characters in the book the crucible, the reason behind their prosecution and oppression and the hypothetic method to lift them out of suffering along with some mainstream social problems at that time.
