1. 研究目的与意义

In recent years, marvel movies have been introduced to domestic cinemas and enjoyed wide popularity. However, the quality of subtitles has triggered a great deal of controversy. From the perspective of Eco-translatology adaption and selection, this paper decides to first, collect different versions of subtitle translation of Marvel films and then compare and evaluate the subtitles through linguistic, cultural, and communicative dimensions in order to indicates the applicability of Eco-translatology in subtitle translation. The essay intend to arouse more scholars '''' attention to subtitle translation, to bring more standardized, more professional subtitles to the audience, and then promote in-depth exchanges between Chinese and Western cultures.

1. The features of Subtitle translationCompared with literature translation, Subtitle translation has its unique features. In terms of content, subtitle translation mainly focuses on the dialogue between the characters (程丹萍董春枝,2018) and sometimes includes some visual information, such as road signs or place names, and so on ( 李鸿斌,沈冰范成功,2018). What#8217;s more, it has a relatively stable and repeated language mode due to the particular plot and character(车乐格尔,2011).As to the form, subtitle translation is limited by time and space. In space, there are no more than two lines of subtitles on the screen, usually up to 33 characters(sometimes up to 40) per line (卡拉密特格罗,陈茜,郑鸣昊黄桂萍,2017). In time, the subtitle stays on the screen for a minimum of 2 seconds and a maximum of 7 seconds (梁静璧,2006).2. The brief concept of Eco-translatologyMany researchers do studies on movie subtitle translation through Eco-translatology, which is a translation theory put forward by a Chinese professor-Hu Gengshen.Eco-translatology, basedonecology as a philosophical basis and translation studies as a theoretical basis, is a developing and crossing interdiscipline. Its core viewpoints are translator center, translation ecological environment, adaptation and selection, three-dimensional transformation and ecosystem harmony (张杏玲郭秋宏,2018). 3. The unique characteristics of Eco-translatology.From a theoretical point of view, Eco-translatology is a cross-discipline of 'nature' and 'humanity' science, which has a broad space for development (杜海宝,2012).On the content of theoretical research, the most distinctive features of Eco-translatology are its comprehensiveness, integrity, systematisms and interactivity (童婧,2013).In terms of theoretical research methods, Eco-translatology adopts the method of combining comprehensive argumentation with analytical examples (陈金莲,2015).4. The deficiencies in previous research.After years of development, Eco-translatology has made considerable achievements and attracted more and more translators in various fields. However, it still needs to be further developed and improved. As Hu Gengshen (2003) said: #8220;Firstly, there are few systematic studies on translation from the Eco-translatology perspective. Secondly, some studies just quote ecology terms or general concepts, and have not yet given systematic, in-depth and consistent description and interpretation of translation activities according to the basic connotation of ecology. Thirdly, many researchers fail to make a multi-dimensional interpretation and generalization of some questions.#8221; (Hu Gengshen 2003, p. 285).In general, the systematic study of Eco-translatology is still insufficient. What#8217;s more, according to the search results of the CNKI, many studies of subtitle translation using Eco-translatology have been conducted on individual films. Therefore, the research of marvel movies test the feasibility of Eco-translatology in a more comprehensive and systematic way.
