2. 研究的基本内容、问题解决措施及方案

In order to compare the two short stories, I should read these two short stories novels in detail carefully. First of all, I read Chinese version of these two novels. Then I analyze the structure of these two short stories with the help of Chinese version. Because of the Chinese version, I can understand the content easier and quicker. I also search much information about the author and the novel. After I realize the main content, I start to read the English version. I consider the short stories from American thought and I still find something different about the content, even about the same thing. Sometimes, I find that the content is easier to understand in English. After reading these two short stories in English, I start to compare these two short stories from different perspectives by analyzing the stories and listing the key points in the notebook.

The thesis consists of four parts. The first part will primarily provide the background information, including a general introduction of Edgar Allan Poe and Washington Irving, the main content about the novel, the writing background. The second part is the literature review. Many scholars studied these two short stories in the past. So there is something to draw lessons from it. This part is about the ideas put forward by other scholars. The third part is the most important part in the paper. It is the comparison about the two short stories from different perspectives in detail. The last part is the conclusion of the whole paper. This part will stress the main idea of the paper.
