Festivals are special days with the features of mass, periodicity and relative stability. And traditional festivals are the concentrated display of the vitality of traditional folk culture. They experienced the process from spontaneous to conscious, from random to stereo type and gradually developing and complementing, which eventually become the carrier of national culture. Traditional festivals are the special cultural symbols that people gradually form in the long history and social life, which divide the time of daily life.

Traditional Chinese festivals are of long standing and color, like Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Tomb-sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Double Seventh Festival, Mid -autumn Festival, Double Ninth Festival and so on. In the long history of plain rural life, traditional festivals have had significant and far-reaching influences on people's social psychology, values, moral standards, aesthetic characteristics and even national spirit. They also play the role of integrating national sentiments, forming cultural consensus, accumulating social culture and promoting commodity exchange.

Most western festivals are based on religion, especially Christian culture. From the etymology of English, the word ”holiday/holyday#8217; is originally the day of god or the day devoted to religion. Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Jesus, is the biggest holiday in the Christian nation, and Easter is celebrated in honor of the resurrection of Jesus. In spite of the religion-oriented holidays, there are some other holidays focused on feelings and historical tradition, for example, Father#8217;s Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Chinese and western traditional festivals which seem to be the carrier of people to express their cultural feelings, are important components of Chinese and western cultures. Although the theme of the festival is different, some take religious belief, exorcism, rewarding virtue and punishing vice as the theme, some are themed by praying for the blessing of the good agricultural harvest and the national peace and prosperity, and there are many other themes such as making offerings to the gods, commemorate ancestors, historical figures and events, gratitude. All of these festivals are social and cultural deposits with specific themes and certain forms of celebration. The dramatic development of science and technology and the rapid transmission of information accelerate the process of globalization. Cultures mixed together and infiltrated into each other imperceptibly. There is no denying that this kind of transmission and integration has benefited the residents of the global village, making it a global phenomenon, and appreciating the colorful national culture and customs. But at the same time, the intercultural permeation of different cultures also affects the inheritance and transmission of national characteristic culture.
