摘 要

在全球化进程日趋深入的今天，越来越多的中国人选择通过学习英语来更好地实现人生目标与职业追求。科学技术、社会经济与教育观念的进步，对线上英语培训行业的产生和发展起到了催化作用。同时，更多英语学习者开始关注发音的正确与优美，并希望通过灵活多样的学习方式改善自己的发音。线上英语发音培训模式以其独有优势为这些学习者提供了更多选择。

本文回顾了现有关于英语线上培训与发音培训的理论，并结合当下部分线上英语发音培训机构实况作为例证，对中国线上英语发音培训现状这一较新课题进行了探究，旨在分析影响其产生的各方面因素，探索推动其发展的种种条件，解读当前线上英语发音培训的主要操作形式，并讨论其与传统线下英语发音教学模式相较的优点与不足。

本文的研究成果可为英语发音的教与学，线上英语培训的可持续发展，以及日后相关方向的研究提供借鉴与参考。

Abstract

Nowadays along with the deepening of globalization, an increasing number of people in China decide to learn English to better pursue their life goal and gain further development in their career. In recent years, online English training has been catalyzed by the evolution of scientific technology, social economy, and educational notion. Meanwhile, English learners start to seek a breakthrough in more specific aspects, such as the accuracy of pronunciation, looking for more flexibility and efficiency to achieve their purpose. Online training for English pronunciation provides English learners with more choices.

To study the current situation of online training for English pronunciation in China, this thesis reviews existing researches on related theories as well as combine practical examples of online English training institutions. It aims at analyzing the backgrounds and supporting conditions of its development, illustrating common modes of its operation, and discussing both its advantages and limitations.

The results of the study can give a general introduction of online training for English pronunciation. It can also offer referable ideas for English training and learning, for the sustainable development of this industry, and for any further research in this field.

A Study on Current Online Training for English Pronunciation in China

1 Introduction

Nowadays, with the deepening of globalization, an increasing number of people in China decide to learn English to better pursue their life goal and gain further development in their career. In recent years, online English training has been catalyzed by the evolution of scientific technology, social economy, and educational notion. Meanwhile, English learners have started to seek a breakthrough in specific aspects, such as the accuracy of pronunciation, looking for more flexible and efficient ways to achieve this purpose. Online training for English pronunciation provides English learners with more choices.

1.1 Research Purpose

With the in-depth development in economic and cultural communication between China and foreign countries, there have been a few remarkable changes in people’s view toward English learning. One of the most intriguing phenomena is that an increasing number of English learners are demanding a “native accent” as a significant goal of their study, which may indicate a very promising market in the instruction of pronunciation. More and more learners value the ability to speak beautifully as essential as the ability to listen and read accurately.

Meanwhile, there have also been some important changes in people’s learning habits. Of all the thriving English training institutions in China, those providing online training programmes are becoming the preferred choices for more language learners. Unconstrained by specific spot and relatively fixed timetable, online education enables people to study in a more convenient and flexible way. Besides, the learning groups which are usually founded during the teaching allow students to discuss their gains and confusion as well as to encourage each other to persevere.

The purpose of this thesis is to provide a general introduction of the current situation of online training for English pronunciation in China, analyze its major forms and development, as well as give an evaluation of online training for English pronunciation.

1.2 Research Significance

This study focuses on a topic on which few people have done research before. The appearance of these online forms for English pronunciation training might be noticed, but it has not been well observed and studied yet. By discussing the advantages and disadvantages of these forms, more effective and efficient methods in teaching and learning of English pronunciation can be found, both online and offline.

With the findings of this study, researchers can have a closer view on the changing needs and ways of both learning and teaching in China. Meanwhile, they can also gain a better recognition of the current online training for English pronunciation.
