Abstract
Due to the fact that some students have more troubles in learning English, how to improve their language competence is becoming an essential task at present. The Theory of Multiple Intelligence, put forward by Howard Gardner, has proved to be effective for teaching in compensating intelligence deficiency for each student as well as making a difference in their English study. Meanwhile, Grading Teaching also plays an important role in excellent training. XES, a training organization affiliated to Tomorrow Advancing Life, is booming in recent years in education markets of Wuhan. Since it develops expeditiously in short periods, there is no denying the fact that it must have a series of scientific teaching system. With the language intelligence included in Multiple Intelligence theory as research ground, based on typical examples and accurate data from XES, the thesis aims at analyzing the differences among students and demonstrating the prominent benefits of the grading teaching. The purpose of this thesis is to advocate the grading teaching so as to offer a better guidance to teaching.

The Application of Multiple Intelligence Theory to English Teaching-A Case Study of Grading Teaching in XES
1 Introduction
In the 1970s, with the development of Economic-globalization and World popularization, the advanced technologies generated great changes. Especially the third science revolution, it posed new challenges and requirements to the current education situation. At the same time, the world education experienced an unprecedented reform, and the key point is “to provide a fair successful chance and a chance to develop their potentials for every student.”The Multiple Intelligence theory was engendered in this background(霍华德,2008). It advocates that teachers should take advantage of all means to promote the education for all-round among students.
While in the 1980s, Professor H, Gardner put forward a new intelligence concept. In his book Frames of Mind, he pointed out an individual intelligence was bound to bring some skills to solve problems. Actually, multiple intelligence theory emphasized intelligence were pluralistic, not single. It attached importance to the learning process, and developed multiple abilities of all the learners according to profuse teaching activities. Multiple intelligence are relatively independent interrelated.
According to H, Gardner, multiple intelligence include verbal-linguistic intelligence, musical-rhythmic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, visual-spatial intelligence, kinetic intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, naturalist intelligence and intrapersonal intelligence. Because every individual has their own differences, it is necessary for teachers to adopt different teaching methods. Only in this way, students can make use of their own adept intelligence in their study, which is beneficial to them. In other words, MI theory is significant in English teaching.
Grading teaching is exerted in the background of multiple intelligence, which has produced positive impacts on students. But in some state-owned schools, teaching is still conducted in traditional ways, which brings some problems, such as obvious polarization. Meanwhile, some private schools develop quickly with the aid of grading teaching like XES. Because of it, XES divides all the students into different groups based on their grades. And students can get more practical help in their study.
Based on the theory of multiple intelligence, this thesis aims to analyze the advantages of Grading Teaching and provide the schools and students some suggestions on how to cultivate students more effectively. Actually, XES is one of the most famous education training institutions in Wuhan. Based on its advanced teaching devices and scientific teaching methods, the number of students has been increasing to 15,000. What’s more, lots of students can get excellent grades in their schools, and this is the reason why they choose XES. And we also need to admit that teachers are good at teaching and so responsible that can be trusted by numerous parents. Considering the education development, XES is bound to make a difference in Wuhan. As an English teacher in a junior school, I have worked there for one year and a half. I have applied grading teaching to my classes, and found it is beneficial to my students. In other words, different students can acquire different knowledge, which can help them get good marks. Therefore, the purpose of the thesis is to prove the feasibility of grading teaching so as to make it adopted by state-owned or private schools extensively.
2 Multiple Intelligence Theory
Gardner demonstrates that there are eight intelligence, and maybe other intelligence haven’t discovered yet until now. We can know more about MI theory: the meaning of each intelligence, examples of jobs or other fields where each intelligence appears, the personalities of each person can show.
MI theory includes Verbal-linguistic Intelligence, Logical-mathematical Intelligence, Musical Intelligence, Kinetic Intelligence, Spatial intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence, Naturalist Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence. To be honest, each intelligence has its own memory system. Linguistic and Logical-mathematical intelligence are concerned with academic accomplishment. The linguistic intelligence includes reading, writing and speaking and translating. Furthermore, it is important for us to provide descriptions and explanations. Gardner regards the poet as the epitome of linguistic ability(霍华德,2008,p34). Such as teaching, pathology can also need this intelligence. Activities also require divergent thinking like story telling and writing.
Logical-mathematical intelligence includes logical reasoning and problem-solving. If people have a good Commons of this intelligence, they will be regarded as “smart”, such as logicians and mathematicians. This intelligence needs to solve difficult problems. Furthermore, IQ tests can appraise a person’s ability according to logical-mathematical intelligence. Careers with this kind of intelligence are mathematicians, scientists and logicians.
Musical intelligence has to do with sensitivity to sounds, rhythms, tones and music. People with a high musical intelligence normally have good rhythm sensation and they are able to sing. Language skills are typically concerned with musical intelligence. What’s more, they will use songs or rhythms to learn. At the same time, they also have special sense to rhythm, tone, melody and timbre. Careers with this intelligence are instrumentalists, singers and so on.
