摘 要

新时期以来，以习近平同志为核心的共产党人推动中国党和国家事业建设，取得了历史性成就。海外各界了解研究《习近平谈治国理政》的期待和热情空前高涨。同时，在近年来的外宣工作中，发言人引经据典的频次越来越高。想要讲好中国故事，需要翻译工作者们翻译好中国“古诗”。

在此背景下，外文出版社联合多位国内外优秀译者策划出版了《习近平谈治国理政》系列图书，时效性与学术性并存，是翻译工作者很好的学习材料。通过研究这本书，翻译工作者可以学习在翻译过程中如何处理这些文化专有项现象，在译者和读者、听众之间架起沟通的桥梁，使中国传统文化更好地走向世界。

本篇论文在归化异化理论的指导下，以艾希克拉对于文化专有项提出的翻译方法进行研究，以《习近平谈治国理政》（第二卷）的文化专有项之古文翻译以及对等文本下口译的翻译情况为研究对象，通过资料查找、文献分析，归纳出古诗文这一文化专有项在翻译时所采用的一般策略和方法。

Abstract

Since the new era, Communists with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core have promoted the construction of the Chinese Communist Party and the State and achieved historic achievements. Expectations and enthusiasm of overseas communities to understand and study Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II is unprecedented. At the same time, more and more spokespeople cited the culture-specific items (CSI) frequently. To tell Chinese stories well, translators need to translate culture-specific items (CSI) well.

Against this background, the Foreign languages Press has co-planned and published a series of books entitled Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II with several excellent translators at home and abroad, which is a good learning material for translators. By studying this book, translators can learn how to deal with these culture-specific items and build a bridge of communication between translators, readers, or listeners, and make Chinese traditional culture better into the world.

Under the guidance of the theory of domestication and foreignization proposed by Lawrence Venuti, this thesis studies the translation methods of culture-specific items (CSI) proposed by Aixela. It is combined with ancient Chinese prose translations of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II and equivalent interpretation text. Through information search and literature analysis, the general strategies and methods used in the translation of the culturally exclusive item of ancient poems are summarized.

1.1 Research Background

1.1.1 The Significance of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has made historic achievements in promoting the cause of the Chinese Communist Party and the state, and socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.^[1] Overseas people from all walks of life are looking forward to and enthusiastic about the study of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II.

Foreign languages Press planned and published a series of books entitled Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II around the construction of Chinese discourse and telling Chinese stories. The publication of this book has received extensive attention and high evaluation from overseas readers. It is a significant opportunity and carrier for foreign dissemination of Chinese culture. Many people regard it as the key to understanding the development of contemporary China.

The English version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II is a high-quality translation task conducted by an elite translation team organized by China International Publishing Group, including experts on the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other units. The team consists of 29 translators that have worked on outreach for many years, including seven finishers, a foreign rewriter, and two foreign experts to assist.^[2] It can be said that the English translation of this book is a very excellent work in recent years. This book combines the talents from the translation country and the target country to carry out the spirit. It can transfer the feelings well through mutual verification and comparison.

1.1.2. Literature Review

There are many studies on Xi Jinping: the governance of China Series in China. However, the majority of previous studies on Xi Jinping: The Governance of China II mainly focused on the significance of communication and the translation of political expression with Chinese characteristics. Foreign studies mainly focus on the reading experience. Few studies involved the aspects of ancient poetry and prose in the culture-specific items.

Chen, Lei, and Wu (2019) made a contrastive analysis of the different translations of the poems quoted in President Xi’s speech from the perspective of The Skopos theory. They concluded that the translation of Chinese poems into English in the context of political publicity has its unique features that cannot be ignored. On the basis of conveying the basic contents of the original poems, In the context of political adaptation, the translation needs to cross-cultural barriers through coherent and communicative translation so as to achieve the goal of serving political intention.

As for the translation of strategies, Dou and Wen (2015) starts with the effect of communication, and considers that one of the greatest features of Xi Jinping’s discourse is its affinity to the people. These characteristics of people-oriented discourses have been well reproduced in English translation, mainly through literal translation, translation, back translation and other translation methods.

In addition, some scholars get interesting views from the perspective of domestication and foreignization. From the perspective of cultural translation, Lin and Lin (2016) believed that cultural translation should be used to guide translation practice or translation research, instead of deviating from theory to theory and text analysis, and put forward various “idealized” translation models, otherwise, they would fall into the “Pan cultural” empty talk. The cultural translation view can’t talk about “culture” without completely ignoring the static cultural characteristics inherent in the structure of the language system.

Coincidentally, according to Venuti’s theory of foreignization and domestication, Qi and Qi (2019) analyze two kinds of extreme situations that may occur when foreignization and domestication are not used at that time - over domestication and over foreignization. Finally, it is believed that when translating such culturally meaningful expressions as idioms, It is pointed out that the choice mechanism of foreignization and domestication should be a dynamic one, which should change with the change of the corresponding influencing factors.
