In study of Lord of the Flies, the theme is always the point of so many literature papers. People always have different opinions in many aspects toward it. There are several mainstream views about the thematic study include the following points. The view of Zhang Zhongzai(1994) has the most profound influence in study of theme of Lord of the Flies. He analyzes the novel by philosophical theories of Karl Marx, Friedrich and Sigmund Freud and takes a contrast of them to seek the point of the novel. However, he only explores the content of the novel, but not from the author#8217;s will. Li Yuhua(1999) argues that the theme of novel is only one thing that is the evil of human nature. And she analyzes the characters, groups and background in story by symbolization. Firstly, she takes a contrast between The Coral Island and Lord of the Flies to explain the differences from two novel#8217;s characters. And then, she analyzes the evil of human nature in the story. But she doesn#8217;t express the real purpose of author. Although there are some scholars who take the opinion that the point of theme also includes the human salvation and I think actually it is the thought that author really wanted to express A lot of research has been conducted to explore the thematic in Lord of the Flies, and it is still meaningful to analyze this novel. Many of the previous theories think the evil of human nature is the thematic of the novel. This paper puts the focus upon not only the darkness of character but the author#8217;s will and the implication of the novel.
