This paper intends to research the problems in current teachingof speaking to English major students of universities in Wuhan city. It will focus on the teaching methods, classroom activities, time arrangement and relevant problems in the speaking classes by designing and administering a questionnaire. In so doing, this paper aims to understand the current situation, analyze the results and thus put forward practical solutions from the Social Cultural Theory.
