Hamlet written by Shakespeare’s is agreat representative of western tragedies while The Little Orphan of the Family of Chao written by Guan Hanqing is agreat representative of Chinese classical tragedies. These two tragedies havethe same theme of revenge. Differently, in Hamlet both aspects of the contradiction went towards death. But in the latter, theaspect of justice ultimately defeated the evil through a hard process. Thispaper will make a comparison of western and Chinese historical environment toanalogize the reason why the results are different with the same theme.
