China and the United States are engaged in a trade war as each country continues to dispute tariffs placed on goods traded between them. As we all know, the United States and China are the largest economy countries in the world, therefore, this war will definitely bring enormous impact on world economy.According to Premier Li Keqiang: there have been more voices about the trade war between China and the United States, and he assumes that the Sino-US trade war is detrimental to both sides and there is no winner between us. It’s always necessary to resolve disputes through negotiation and dialogue. He hopes that both sides could remain rational to avoid trade war. During this period, there are lots of press releases about trade war both in China and the United States , which can greatly influence public opinions and mutual relationship. In order to improve the relationship between two countries and reduce negative impacts, press releases play an important role. How to produce effective and objective press releases has became a serious and vital topic for us.
With the development of globalization, it’s necessary for every citizen to know what’s happening in the world. Press releases, no matter where it appears, on Internet or newspaper, is the most common tool for public to know the world affairs. There are several rules for media to produce press releases, for instance, press releases should firstly be authentic, objective and timely. What’s more, there are also some linguistic rules to produce press releases. This paper will analyze the language features of the press releases between China and America in terms of vocabulary, grammar,rhetoric and clause. And it compares their language features on the concreteness, veracity and succinctness level. Finally, strategies will be given to make contribution to recover normal mutual relations.
There have been many Chinese researches about the linguistic features on advertising and business, however, there are seldom researches about the linguistic features on press releases, especially in the background of Sino-US trade war. So this paper will not only be beneficial to the development of international relations, but also enrich the academic field.
In conclusion, it is vital to study the linguistic features of the press releases of China and America in the background of Sino-US trade war, so as to make best use of it, provide more practical advice and drawn public’s attention on world affairs.

This paper will briefly state the reasons, process, outcomes and effects of Sino-US trade war,and mainly focus on the analysis and comparison of the linguistic features of the press releases. The analysis of their linguistic features will base on vocabulary,grammar,rhetoric and clause, and the comparison will base on the concreteness,veracity and succinctness levels. The ultimate goal of this paper is to give strategies and present practical advice on news report in the terms of words,sentences,paragraphs. What’s more, the author will firstly review and comprehend plenty of existed sources about excerpts of the press releases between China and America, then analyze and compare some typical excerpts in order to give strategies for the language features of the press releases, and finally conclude the paper with practical advice on producing better press releases.
In the course of study, research approach such as case study, analysis and comparison and documentary will be adopted. This paper requires reading and comparing lots of press releases material in order to give effective suggestions in the end.
