The Skopos Theory was introduced in China in 1980s by Du Qianyuan(1987). Hu Guili and Zhang jun(2013) studied the two development stages of the theory in China. Domestic studies initially focused on the theory itself and then the application of the theory in the translation activities and the estimation of translation under the Skopos Theory. Hu and Zhang believed the theory has relieved translation from the text-only cognitive model. Zhang Qinghong(2016) has studied the specific application of the three principles of Skopos theeory in a certain translation and has made estimation at the lexical and syntactic level.

As for the domestic study about the journalistic words translation under the Skopos theory, Zhao Fen(2015) studied the translation of internet buzzwords and drew the conclusion that the three principles of the Skopos Theory should be applied respectively under different circumstances. Zhang Yin(2016), compared two translations of one phrase in the Translation of the Silk Road Nomination Dossier to see if they have fulfilled their skopos. And Zhu Yanfen(2016) concluded four translation techniques in news translation based on the case study of the translation of Global Times.

Study Abroad

This paper studies the strategies, methods and techniques of journalistic hot words C-E translation , which gains scarce attention of the foreign scholars, hence there are few studies about it. However, some studies about journalistic hot words or news translation can be found. These relevant papers studied from different aspects. Most studied in terms of culture, which is also the mainstream of domestic translation study after cultural turn. Ebrahim(2013) studied the translation of news phrasal verbs from the cultural and cross-cultural aspect based on the functional theory as well as studied the adoption of domestication and foreignization strategy through analyzing 10 cases. Roberto(2014) studied linguistic and cultural transformation of source news texts as well as the application of the concept of framing. And Kyle(2015) studied the role of culture in news translation and put forward the materialist philosophy of language from 3 aspects.

Besides the perspective of translation, some foreign scholars focused on the more specific methods of journalistic hot words translation. Agnes and Marija(2016), from the perspective of pragmatic equivalence in translations of journalistic texts, analyzed the hedging devices, that is, modification and and omission.

Overall, most abroad studies concentrated on the cultural factors of translation of news. Meanwhile, most scholars centered on the translation of the whole journalistic texts rather than hot words.
