Hope the result of this paper can provide some suggestions for college English language learners and the revolution in college English teaching.
Domestically, scholars have done a lot of researches on such topics. For example, Yan Jun, in article The revolution in English Teaching Based on mobile Internet published in Overseas English in 2017, analyses the basic features of internet learning and different advantages that mobile internet can bring to English teaching. What is more, Tao Hui, in her article Analysis on English Major’s Mobile English Learning on Smart Phone published in Overseas English in 2016, points that learning English through smart phone is very popular among college students. Besides, Miao Ning, in her article Study on the Learning Strategy of Mobile College English Learning Based on Wechat published in Instruction and Teacher professional Development in 2016, shows that apps like Wechat has become a popular learning method for college students. Yet some of these researches only focuses on college English teaching instead of self English Learning. And some of these researches pay too much attention only on one app or one mobile equipment. According to the researches that have been done so far, this paper wants to focus more on the different mobile equipment that can use internet, such as smart phones, laptops and pads.
Internationally, mobile English learning also has become a heated issue among scholars. Hsinhui Chung in his article,A Study of EFL College Students' Acceptence of Mobile Learning published in Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences in 2015, points that college students’ behavioral intentions had high positive correlations with mobile devices’ compatibility, self-efficacy, perceived ease of use respectively. Yet the data is from different colleges from Taiwan. Further more, Mostafa Al-Emran, in article Investigating Attitudes towards the Use of Mobile Learning in Higher Education published in Computers in Human Behavior in 2016, indicates that M-learning can be one of the promising pedagogical technologies to be employed in the higher educational environments within the Arab Gulf countries. This study is done in Arab Gulf countries which have different social environment from that in China mainland. Besides, Houston Heflin, in the article Impact of Mobile Technology on Student attitudes, Engagement, and Learning published in Computers amp; Education in 2017. claims that mobile technology is associated with positive student perceptions of collaborative learning but with increased disengagement by students during class. In addition, the level of students' critical thinking was more closely associated with the tools used to construct written responses than with the collaborative learning environment style. In a nutshell, majority of the international studies on mobile English learning or mobile learning in college are not conducted in China mainland and always conclude graduate students. Yet this paper focuses on undergraduate students in Wuhan, China.
